Participants of the thematic conference summed up the sports achievements of the year

As organizers of the forum which took place at the National Institute of Sports and Tourism, acted the State Sports Committee together with Ministry of Health and Medical Industry. Heads and representatives of sectoral establishments, higher educational institutions, public organisations and the mass media took part in the meeting. 

As was marked, the closing year 2017 declared at the initiative of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov as Year of Health and Inspiration, was filled with a number of significant events which entered new bright pages in the annals of independent neutral Turkmenistan. And, first of all, it was a grandiose triumph of the 5th AIMAG which took place in Ashgabat. For the first time held in the Central Asian region large scale international competitions opened enormous sports potential of our country confidently following by the way of creation and progress. 

The Games of 2017 visually showed Ashgabat that our country is open to the world, solidary with the planet people in their aspiration to consent, mutual understanding and positive cooperation. In fact, sports are a powerful consolidating factor proclaiming high humanistic ideals, in practice confirming advantages of healthy way of life. 

And the fact that for the first time in history of organization of the given Games took part in competitions the best athletes not only from the states of the Asian continent, but also from Oceania, and also the team of refugees, increased the international authority of Turkmenistan as sports power and country-peacemaker realising noble principles of the Olympic movement and bringing a powerful contribution to peace and stability. 

In it, as underlined by speakers, the personal merit of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov who has initiated the holding of the 5th AIMAG in Ashgabat is high. Thanks to the selfless activity of the head of state, his huge attention to the development of sports of the higher achievements and physical training popularisation in the country, the strengthening of principles of healthy way of life was insured by the victory of our national team at the given competitions. 

In Turkmenistan the complex program "Health" is successfully realised and a purposeful work on implementation of the national program of support and development of sports for 2011-2020, preparation of sportsmen of high qualification is conducted. Sports objects - complexes, stadiums, and specialised sport schools are put in operation. 

In Ashgabat the unique Olympic village was erected, the national tourist zone "Avaza" - a resort pearl of Turkmenistan is famous for its magnificent modern improving centres. The special attention is also given to the development of new sports. So, for example, on the threshold of Independence Day in the capital the first golf club to become a good base for preparation of Turkmen athletes and national teams for the world championships, Asia, and also Olympic games, was opened. 

At the end of the conference its participants assured that they will make their best efforts for successful fulfilment of tasks for further augmentation of fame of the country on the international sports arena.
