Vasiliy Shestakov: new page in the history of sambo

Big hall of the Media Centre held the press conference where President of International Sambo Federation Vasiliy Shestakov (Russia) has spoken to domestic and foreign mass media. He informed about the decision of the Executive Committee of the Olympic Council of Asia made on the session in Ashgabat on September 20 on inclusion of sambo to the programme of the Asian Games. 

Sport sambo competitions will take place in six weight categories (62, 74 and 90 kg men and 65, 64 and 72 kg women) under the Asian Games in Jakarta in 2018. 

- I would like to congratulate all sambo supporters on new page in the history of this sport Vasiliy Shestakov highlighted. – Important decision, which can make a great effect on the Olympic prospects of sambo, have been taken. Next year, this martial art will be 80 years old and sambo wrestlers from all over the world would be able to celebrate it in Jakarta competitions that are planned on December 2018.
