IOE Regional Director awards certificate on the establishment of the Equine disease free zone in Turkmenistan

In the framework of the VII session of the International Ahalteke Horse Breeding Association, Regional Director of the International Office of Epizootics (IOE) for Central Asia Kazimiras Lukauskas awarded the certificate on the establishment of the Equine disease free zone (EDFZ) in Turkmenistan to President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

The President of Turkmenistan expressed deep gratitude to Mr. Lukauskas and the World Organisation for Animal Health for awarding the certificate that grants the status of the Equine disease free zone to Turkmenistan.

The certificate opens up wide opportunities for holding equestrian games in the framework of the V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, the programme of which includes the show-jumping contests on the initiative of the President of Turkmenistan.

The President of Turkmenistan congratulated horse breeders in Turkmenistan and foreign countries as well on this achievement. The Turkmen leader noted that the decision to grant the status of the Equine disease free zone to Turkmenistan vividly exemplified the high international authority of Turkmenistan and symbolized the trust and recognition of the emphatic success achieved by our country in the spheres of horse breeding and veterinary medicine.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized that our country carried out systematic work on the further development of the horse breeding industry, modernization of its infrastructure, increasing the number of heads of pedigree Ahalteke horses, intensification of international cooperation in this sphere, popularization of various equestrian sports and national traditions of horse riding.

The President of Turkmenistan underlined that we were proud of the trust of the Olympic Council of Asia that had delegated our country the right to host the V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games and we would apply every effort to hold the Asian Games at the high level so that all participants of this sports event could feel the warm hospitality of our people.
