Prospects for Cooperation Between Turkmenistan and the CTBTO Discussed in Antalya

On April 18, 2026, in Antalya, during an official visit to the Republic of Türkiye, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov met with the Executive Secretary of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization Robert Floyd.

During the meeting, the sides discussed the current state and future prospects of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the CTBTO. The importance of strengthening international efforts aimed at ensuring global security, nuclear non-proliferation, and advancing disarmament processes was emphasized.

Turkmenistan’s commitment to the goals and principles of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty was reaffirmed. The sides also explored opportunities to hold regional events in Turkmenistan dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Treaty’s opening for signature and highlighted the importance of intensifying cooperation in this area.

Particular attention was paid to expanding cooperation in the field of international monitoring, as well as to enhancing Turkmenistan’s scientific and technical capacity, including through the training of national specialists.

The sides confirmed their mutual interest in further developing partnership and expanding practical cooperation.
