NOC representatives note a high degree of preparedness for the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games

Ashgabat has hosted a conference of heads of the National Olympic Committee delegations from the countries participating in the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, whose preparations are in the final stage.
During the forum, heads of the Asia/Oceania NOCs became acquainted with the efforts ongoing in Turkmenistan to organize the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, including volunteer training. As noted, “The First Stars” Program, designed to train up to 10,000 voluntary helpers, was launched on February 9.
Director General of “Trivandi Chanzo Limited” (Great Britain) Mick Wright told about the company’s mission as Turkmenistan’s partner in the “Asghabat-2017” Project: to show the Turkmen capital’s beauty to the world with the help of the big sporting event as well as to demonstrate sincerity and openness of the people of Turkmenistan. 5,000 athletes from 62 countries will participate in the Games, not to mention members of delegations and teams, reporters, sports fans and others – 600,000 tickets are expected to go on sale for sports competitions.
The heads of the NOC delegations also discussed the following issues: accreditation, the provision of transport and medical service, the activity of a doping control service, logistics and security, accommodation, and others. Event schedules, training facilities, provided not only at the Olympic Complex, but also at the capital’s other sports buildings, including at the higher education institutions. The conference participants analyzed the organizational and technical experience gained at the international test events in the Ashgabat Olympic Complex. In late April, hundreds of athletes and spectators will gather there for the Asian Weightlifting and Kickboxing Championships and swimming competitions.
The NOC representatives made a tour of the Olympic Complex to get acquainted with its facilities and conditions created for athletes, trainers, referees, spectators. They also had the chance to test tracks at the velodrome.
The foreign guests highly appraised the well-thought-out layout of the Olympic Complex, functionality of its facilities as well as the architectural beauty of the buildings, their original style and interior design.
The capital’s Olympic Complex was constructed at a cost of about 5 billion US dollars. These investments are a significant contribution to Turkmenistan’s sport and its future. The heads of NOC delegations highlighted that with such wonderful legacy of the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, Ashgabat can launch a bid to host Olympic Games.
The conference attendees were also offered an excursion to Ashgabat International Airport, which was put into operation on September 17, 2016. The grand air-terminal complex, the largest in the region, will be the first to meet participants in the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games and will make the first impression about the Turkmen capital.
Our country boasts numerous beautiful places and landmarks, and the country’s major airport seeks to take its place among them. It has everything necessary to fill travelers with positive emotions. As for services, the airport is ready to compete with recognized world’s leaders.
According to the conference participants, the original and extraordinary creative solution is what makes the new air-terminal to stand out among the other similar facilities in the world. After the tour of the airport, the guests left for the city of Turkmenbashi to attend an international sports congress tomorrow.
