Central Election Commission announced the final results of the election: Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has been elected President of Turkmenistan

Ashgabat hosted the meeting of the Central Commission for Elections and Referenda in Turkmenistan, which announced the final results of the election campaign for the President of Turkmenistan.

As noted at the meeting, presidential elections were held at the highest organizational level, according to the national electoral legislation and international law. In general, 97.28 percent or 3,163,692 voters took part in the vote, which indicates high civil activity of the population and its desire to directly participate in the further process of democratic reforms in Turkmenistan.

Our country has also invited the observer missions from the Commonwealth of Independent States, the UN and other international organizations, and foreign journalists who had the opportunity to get acquainted with the course of the election campaign, to ensure openness and transparency of the elections.

CEC Chairman, turning to the main item on the agenda – the summary of the final results of the elections – has said that the Central Election Commission, having considered the reports of velayat, etrap, municipal and district election commissions, decided to consider Gurbanguly Myalikgulyevich Berdimuhamedov, who scored the maximum number of votes, to be elected to the post of the President of Turkmenistan, which was secured by special Decree.

Also, the Resolution of the Central Election Commission determined the day of inauguration of the newly elected President of the country.
