President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov met Prime Minister of Islamic republic of Pakistan Mohammad Navaz Shareef

Having expressed deep gratitude for generous welcome, high-ranking guest highlighted that Pakistan highly values the policy of transparency and good neighbourhood of Turkmenistan, which is based on the principles of positive neutrality, and from his side is willing to continue promoting traditional friendly bilateral relations, which acquired new dynamics and content recently. 

The Prime Minister of Pakistan, taking the opportunity, congratulated President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov with forthcoming indicative events – the high-level forum on transport theme, which is held under the UN aegis as well as put into operation of the first part of Asian International Railroad Transport Corridor. In this relation, the importance of constructive initiatives of Turkmen Leader for regional integration and sustainable development, consolidation of peace, stability and security in the Central Asia was highlighted. 

The Head of the State thanked high-rank guest for personal participation in international forum and emphasized special interest of Turkmenistan in consolidation of fruitful cooperation with neighbouring countries in the region and particularly with Pakistan, which related to Turkmenistan not only by geographical similarity but also by deep historical roots, community of culture and traditions. 

Having stated with delight positive dynamics of the development of bilateral partnership, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and his guest came to the same opinion that trustful character of interstate relations allows Turkmenistan and Pakistan not only realize efficiently the agreements, achieved on different levels but also actively develop new directions of many years cooperation. New impulse of interstate dialog, which is built on the principles of equality, mutual respect and constructiveness, was given during official visit of the president of Turkmenistan to Islamic Republic of Pakistan in march of this year. 

Having stated the presence of huge potential of cooperation of two countries in different spheres of economy, and, first of all, in fuel and energy sector and transport and transit spheres, the Sides made special mention of the importance of construction of the largest main of the continent, the gas pipeline Turkmenistan - Afghanistan – Pakistan – India. By general opinion, the construction of this pipeline will serve not only to economic prosperity of participating countries but also, what is most important, will be strong factor of the peace and stability in the region. At the same time, large prospects are opened by infrastructural projects for establishment of new international transport and communication corridors. 

Humanitarian sphere, which is defining factor of closer relations of two fraternal peoples in new historical age, who carefully preserve and pass through generations outstanding national traditions, which are their imperishable treasury and huge heritage, were called as priority direction of interstate cooperation. 

At the end of the meeting, having expressed the confidence that traditional friendly Turkmen – Pakistan relations would continue developing comprehensively, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Prime Minister Mohammad Navaz Shareef addressed fraternal peoples of Pakistan and Turkmenistan with the wishes of peace and prosperity. 

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Islamic Republic of Pakistan in Turkmenistan Abdul Malik took part in the meeting.
