Composition of CIS Observation Mission Finalized

CIS Observation Mission Headquarters released a statement reporting the following: “The Observation Mission of the Commonwealth of Independent States continues monitoring elections of members of the National Parliament of Turkmenistan. 

The CIS long-term observers visited polling stations in Turkmenistan’s Mary, Balkan and Ahal provinces and the city of Ashgabat. Heads of election commissions briefed the observers on works completed in preparation for elections, elaborated further on training the members of district and precinct electoral commissions, as well as on information management of elections. 

During their visits to polling stations, Mission members reviewed the work with electoral registers and early voting process. 

CIS observers noted the good technical equipment and methodological support of polling stations, their readiness for elections. 

Public campaign was discussed at meetings between observers and parliamentary candidates. The sides stated that the election campaign is being held under the existing legislation. 

Composition of the CIS Observer Mission has been finalized. 90 members representing the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan, the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Interparliamentary Assembly of Member Nations of the Commonwealth of Independent States, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State of Belarus and Russia, and the CIS Executive Committee have been accredited as members of the Mission.”
