President of Turkmenistan receives Vice Premier of Uzbekistan

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the “Uzbekneftegaz” JSC, Alisher Sultanov, who arrived in Turkmenistan to attend the festivities on occasion of the ceremonies of launching the next stage of construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India gas pipeline, laying the foundation of the electricity transmission lines and fibre-optic lines Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan and opening of the Serhetabat-Turgundi railway. 

Expressing gratitude for the opportunity of a personal meeting, the guest conveyed the greetings and congratulations on the occasion of the historical events that will be included into the history of independent Turkmenistan to the President of Turkmenistan on behalf of President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev. 

Thanking for the kind words, the Turkmen leader addresses the best wishes to the President and people of the Republic of Uzbekistan and underlined that the development of the fruitful dialogue with the neighbouring states, including Uzbekistan stood as a priority area of the foreign-policy course of Turkmenistan. 



According to the guest, the initiatives put forward by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov with the aim to strengthen the global and regional safety, to ensure the sustainable economic development of the states in the region and to widen the transport communications have won the wide international recognition and are successfully implemented. 

In this regard, it was underlined the particular significance of the construction of the transnational gas pipeline Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India, the Serhetabat-Turgundi railway, and laying the electricity transmission lines and fibre-optic lines Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan that symbolize the good neighborly cooperation. 

The meeting participants emphasized the active position of our state that demonstrating the commitment to the wide international partnership and using its huge resource potential in the name of the people all around the world, significantly contributes to building up the new architecture of the global energy security, taking efficient steps in this direction. 

The Turkmen leader and his guest exchanged views on the prospects of partnership based on the positive experience as well as the historical, cultural and spiritual affinity of the two peoples. Underling the constructive character of the bilateral political dialogue, the Turkmen leader dwelled upon the increasing dynamics of the trade, economic and humanitarian relations, calling for the further expanding of the efficient cooperation. 

Speaking about the importance of the forthcoming festivities, the guest once again underlined that these historical events would become a new stage for all countries in the region in strengthening the good neighborly relations, peaceful development, mutually beneficial and equal cooperation. 

In conclusion of the meeting, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the “Uzbekneftegaz” JSC, Alisher Sultanov expressed belief that the relations between the two countries, built on the principles of longtermness, friendship and fraternity, would continue developing in the name of the peoples of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
