Head of MFA of Turkmenistan to Attend the Meeting of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Caspian Littoral States

On 4-5 December of the current year, Vice Premier, Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov will attend the Meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Caspian Littoral States in Moscow. The report on preparations for this meeting has been presented at the session of the Government of Turkmenistan. 

According to the Vice Premier, the meeting will cover issues related to the agenda of the 5th Summit of the Heads of Caspian Littoral States that is scheduled to be held in 2018 in the Republic of Kazakhstan. 

In this regard, foreign ministers of the countries of the Caspian Region will devote particular attention to the draft Convention on the Legal Status of the Caspian Sea. They will also continue discussions and consultations on draft pentalateral agreements dealing with various areas of cooperation in the Caspian Sea, including Agreements on Cooperation in Trade, Economics and Transport, initiated by the President of Turkmenistan at the 4th Caspian Summit in Astrakhan. 

Following the report, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has stressed that issues related to the Caspian Sea are an important vector of Turkmenistan’s foreign policy course that is built on the principles of peacefulness, good-neighborliness and equal cooperation. 

According to the head of state, the Caspian Region is one of the most important geopolitical and economic centers in Eurasia, and neutral Turkmenistan takes a proactive stance towards negotiations on the Caspian conference.
