Ashgabat to Host 28th Meeting of Energy Charter Conference on 28-29 November

Vice Premier, head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, R.Meredov, reported on preparations for this event at the Government session. 

The 28th Meeting of the Energy Charter Conference will be attended by heads and representatives of relevant ministries and agencies of member and observer states of the Charter, and several international and regional organizations. 

According to the draft plan of the meeting, it will be held in two sessions, statutory and ministerial. The forum’s agenda will comprise the results of the Energy Charter’s activity in the present year, and also a wide set of issues related to the further improvement of its work and promoting cooperation to secure sustainable energy for the future. 

Special emphasis will be placed on practical implementation of international initiatives proposed by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in the energy sphere that have gained support from the global community. 

A trade exhibition is planned to be held as part of the forum. The results of the 28th Meeting of the Energy Charter Conference will be reflected in the Outcome Document. 

In this regard, the head of state noted that constructive international cooperation in the field of energy is an integral part of sustainable development. With a proactive stance towards partnership, Turkmenistan seeks to fully contribute to enhancing the successful dialog in fuel and energy, with participation of all interested parties, under reputable organizations and structures including the Energy Charter. He also stressed the importance of the upcoming forum in the context of finding coordinated approaches to shaping the architecture of global energy security.
