Afghanistan hosts Turkmen-Afghan talks on cooperation in energy and communications

Speaking during the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, Deputy Prime Minister M. Babayev reported on the results of the working visit to the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan on November 21-22. The issues on the construction of the TAPI gas pipeline, 500 kW Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan power lines and fiber-optic communication line were discussed during the visit.
Commenting on the report, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed belief that Afghanistan's participation in the implementation of major infrastructure projects was a decisive factor for the restoration of the economy of the neighbouring country.
The Turkmen leader emphasized the special importance of the TAPI gas pipeline, which will have a positive impact on the social and economic development of the member countries and the region as well and will facilitate their integration into the system of the world economic relations.
According to the Turkmen leader, Turkmenistan significantly contributes to restoring the economy of the neighbouring state, enhancing the electric power infrastructure of Afghanistan.
