Leaders of Turkmenistan and Tajikistan hold talks in Dushanbe

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov paid a two-day official visit to the Republic of Tajikistan. Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan Kohir Rasulzoda and other officials extended a cordial welcome to the President of Turkmenistan at the International Airport in Dushanbe.

President Emomali Rahmon cordially and warmly greeted the leader of Turkmenistan. 

The leaders of the two states headed to the podium. The commander-in-chief of the Guard of Honour reported to the Presidents. The State Anthems of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Tajikistan were performed. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President Emomali Rahmon paid tribute to the State Flag of Tajikistan. 

The members of the official delegation of Tajikistan were presented to the President of Turkmenistan. Then the members of the governmental delegation of our country were presented to the leader of Tajikistan. The ceremony of the official meeting of the high guest concluded with a parade of the Guard of Honour. 

After the official greeting ceremony had concluded, the leaders of the two states headed to the Kasri Millat Palace, where the leaders of Turkmenistan and Tajikistan held one-on-one talks. 

Heartily greeting once again the distinguished guest, the President Emomali Rahmon thanked his counterpart for accepting the invitation to pay an official visit to the Republic of Tajikistan. Noting that the meeting with the President of Turkmenistan was a significant event in the history of relations between the two states that great importance was attached to, President Emomali Rahmon underlined the commitment of his country to enhance fruitful bilateral cooperation with Turkmenistan. President Emomali Rahmon expressed satisfaction with the high level of the Turkmen-Tajik dialogue built on the long-term historical relations. 

Thanking his Armenian counterpart for the cordial welcome and hospitality, the Turkmen leader underlined the dynamic and constructive character of the interstate cooperation, successfully developing in the bilateral and multirateral format, in the framework of regional and international organisations. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed belief that the top level meeting in Dushanbe as well as the agreements to be achieved on the outcomes of the talks would contribute to strengthening the traditional ties of friendship and fraternity between the two countries and peoples, would offer a qualitatively new incentive to the mutually beneficial Turkmen-Tajik partnership and would promote reaching its full potential. 

The leaders of Turkmenistan and Tajikistan discussed a wide spectrum of issues of bilateral cooperation, specified its key vectors, given the existing prospects and modern requirements. Specifying the trade and economy, energy, transport and a number of other industries among the priority areas of cooperation, the leaders of the two states underlined the significant role of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Tajik commission in the diversification of efficient relations. 

The parties focused on the implementation of the ambitious joint project on the construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Tajikistan railroad that is of particular importance for the whole region as a bright example of the joint efforts and strategic character of the interstate partnership. 

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President Emomali Rahmon called for enhancement of the long-term cooperation in the humanitarian sphere, further promotion of the scientific and educational relations and the cultural dialogue between the two states and peoples. 

During the meeting, the parties exchanged their views on a number of issues of the regional and global agenda that are of particular interest for the two states.
