The Heads of Turkmenistan and Armenia outline the priorities of cooperation

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov met with President of the Republic of Armenia Serj Sargsyan who arrived in Turkmen capital for participation in the opening ceremony of V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games.
Having warmly greeted each other, the Leaders of two countries had joint photo on the background of the State Flags of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Armenia.
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed the gratitude to high ranking guest for acceptance of the invitation to visit Ashgabat and take part in the events on occasion of the start of Asian Games, having noted that Turkmenistan sees the republic of Armenia as perspective partner.
President Serj Sargsyan highlighted that he is glad to visit Turkmen land and see modern achievements of people that confidently moves forward along the way of prosperity headed by their national leader.
Having congratulated the Head of Turkmenistan on the opening of Ashgabat 2017 Games, high-ranking guest stated that their conduct would multiply international authority of Turkmenistan without a doubt.
The Head of Armenia highlighted that the whole world watches with great attention for new achievements of modern Turkmenistan and hails progressive reforms in the country including in sports development. Excellent sport facilities and unique Olympic village built in Ashgabat cannot help making happy.
Further in the meeting, the Leaders of friendly states discussed the matters of activation of Turkmen – Armenian relations and cooperation in different spheres.
By unanimous opinion of the sides, the existing level of trust and mutual understanding allows Turkmenistan and Armenia confidently building their relations for long-term perspective. In this context, it was mentioned that official visit of the President of Turkmenistan to Armenia in August of this year opened new chapter in the development of Turkmen – Armenian dialog and would serve to consolidation of beneficial partnership.
Having dwelt on trade and economic relations, the Leaders of two countries noted the role of Intergovernmental Turkmen – Armenian Commission for economic cooperation under definition of new forms for consolidation of productive partnership. Energy and transport spheres, textile industry, financial and banking system, agricultural complex, health protection were defined among the key directions.
Actuality of opening of direct flight between Ashgabat and Erevan was expressed for consolidation of bilateral relations.
