President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov initiated a new popularization campaign organized within the framework of the Ashgabat-2017 project to strengthen the principles of a healthy lifestyle in the society.

On June 15th, in the course of getting acquainted with the works on the improvement of the capital on the eve of the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, which will be held in September this year, from the side of the helicopter, noting that July 28th will count 50 days before the start of the Games, the Head of State suggested all the leaders and employees of all institutions and enterprises go to work on bicycles on July 29th. On this day all the city will be on bicycles and passenger buses.

According to the leader of the nation, this action will contribute to strengthening the health of the population, raising its ecological culture and promoting cycling. The personal example of the Head of State - arrival to all events on these days on a bicycle - is an eloquent testimony to the fact that the formation of an integrated national system of physical, spiritual and moral recovery is a political dominant in the life of Turkmenistan.

In recent years, great attention has been paid to the development of cycling in our country, which was given special impetus by the signing of the relevant Decree by the Head of State in June 2013. The initiative of the leader of the nation to hold annual mass bike rides was enthusiastically supported by all Turkmen people.
