Delegation of Turkmenistan participated in the 12th China-Central Asia Cooperation Forum
12th China – Central Asia Cooperation Forum was held on November 6th, 2025 in Urumqi, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of PRC bringing together high-level delegations from China, the five Central Asian countries and international organizations.
The Forum’s agenda included such activities as an exhibition on the achievements of cooperation and four sub-forums that addressed trade and economy, education, poverty reduction and women’s issues. “Promoting the China-Central Asia Spirit and Advancing Common Modernization” was the theme of this Forum.
Delegation of Turkmenistan consisting of diplomats of the Embassy in the PRC and representatives of the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Finance and Economy, Ministry of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations and Women’s Union of Turkmenistan took part in the above-mentioned Forum.
Ambassador of Turkmenistan to the PRC Parakhat Durdyev, delivered a speech at the opening ceremony. In his statement the Turkmen diplomat touched upon the strategic priorities of Turkmenistan's foreign and economic policies within the China - Central Asia Format and emphasized the importance of further institutionalizing dialogue and practical coordination of joint projects, He stated that the expansion of trade and investment cooperation and diversification of the economy such as launching and implementation of industrial projects with the participation of foreign companies, development of transport routes and personnel exchanges remain as priorities. Specific examples of cooperation included the active renewal of the urban transport fleet and the participation of Chinese companies in infrastructure projects.
Ambassador also attached special prominence to Turkmenistan's role as a transit country in the implementation of trans-regional projects (including railway corridors), as well as its commitment to the achievement of SDGs and Long-Term and Medium-Term Socio-Economic Development Programs for 2022–2052 and 2022–2028. In this context, Turkmenistan invited foreign and Chinese partners to participate in national projects, international tenders, and investment initiatives.
Further during the forum, participants discussed areas for multilateral cooperation, including the expansion of trade and economic cooperation, transport and logistics projects, energy cooperation, investment projects in industry and infrastructure, as well as programs in the field of education, culture, humanitarian initiatives, digitalization and green economy. Parties as well exchanged assessments about ongoing projects and outlined steps for deepening practical ties between countries of the region.
In conclusion participants of the Forum reached a broad consensus to deepen cooperation and build a closer China-Central Asia community with a shared future, focusing on trade, green development, security, and regional connectivity.
