Outcomes of Visit to Turkmenistan by IMF Mission Finalized

Delegation of the International Monetary Fund concluded staff visit to Turkmenistan where they held several bilateral meetings in the ministries and sectoral agencies of the country. Outcomes of the visit by the IMF mission were discussed at the Government session.
It was particularly noted that the IMF mission prepared a statement that will be published on the Fund’s website. The statement highly commends Turkmenistan’s economic development, macroeconomic indicators and success achieved due to cardinal reforms.
In this regard the head of state stressed that Turkmenistan will remain committed to the course of fundamental reforms aimed at dynamic development of the national economy, pushing it to advanced levels. It was noted that, to this end, consistent actions are being taken to secure transition to market relations; ambitious infrastructure projects are being implemented; improvements are being made to the financial, banking, fiscal and monetary systems. Flexible macroeconomic policy is being pursued, issues of industrialization and modernization of the national economy complex, adoption of advanced technology are being addressed; the world’s best practices are being studied; cooperation with the leading financial structures including the IMF is being expanded.
