Turkmenabat International Airport is listed in the Guinness Record Book

International Airport was opened with the participation of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Turkmenabat, the administration centre of Lebap Velayat. 

New airport is designed not only to satisfy growing needs of the eastern region in air traffic but also to highlight the status of the city on Amudarya River that currently turns into big industrial cluster of Turkmenistan. 

The Chairperson of the Mejlis, Deputy Chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers, leaders of military and law enforcement agencies, representatives of non-governmental organizations, foreign and national mass media, ambassadors of foreign states to Turkmenistan, hyakims of the velayats and Ashgabat as well as local residents took part in the ceremony. 

The Head of the State cut symbolical ribbon and addressed the participants with greeting speech. Having characterized the development rates of the country and specify briefly future plans, the President of Turkmenistan highlighted that this large-scale activity is aimed at the improvement of life level of people and entails the expansion of the cooperation with different countries in the world, especially with neighbouring countries in the region. In this context, the importance of the launch of construction of Afghan part of TAPI pipeline three days ago was highlighted. 



The importance of work for the formation of modern transport and logistic infrastructure in the country has been also emphasized. The construction of the airport in Turkmenabat was another step in this way. This International Airport will be one of the most important intersections of transport communications that are to serve to the consolidation of friendship and peace between the states.

In particular, representative of the Guinness World Record Book noted high technological effectiveness of new airport in Turkmenabat, having highlighted that air view of passenger terminal in the shape of star deserves special attention. Such excellent architectural solution is unique feature of the airport that has no analogues in the world. We consider it deserves to occupy an honoured place in the Guinness Record Book, the guest said, having presented the Certificate of the Guinness World Record Book officially certifying the uniqueness of architectural design of passenger terminal of Turkmenabat Airport to Chairman of Turkmenhowayollary Service D. Saburov. 

New airport is ready to work and would deservingly carry out its mission, the representative of Munich International Airport, which specialists were chosen as the consultants and experts to evaluate the operation of all systems of Turkmenabat International Airport, said in his turn. The certificate proving this fact has also been presented to D. Saburov. 



New airport was built by “Gundogdy” Individual Enterprise, the Member of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of. The facilities of new airport stretched on the area of 600 hectares. Passenger terminal building occupies 37 thousand square meters. Maximally comfort conditions for waiting, check-in and boarding of the passengers have been made in the terminal. Information display, international and intercity communication centre, luggage storages, cafeterias, bars, shopping outlets are to the disposal of the passengers. There are CIP lounge, duty free stores, internet cafes and other services. 

After the opening ceremony, Turkmen and foreign airlines flight have landed in new airport. 

3800 meters long and 60 meters wide runway is equipped with ground flight support systems like landing systems, distance-measuring radio beacon, runway lighting and meteorology equipment that allows receiving all types of aircrafts. 

The airport is provided by the world known companies producing specialized equipment. Centralized fuelling system allows fast and quality service of the aircrafts. 

The airport has medical centre, canteen, hotel for 100 guests, covered parking. It also has all life support systems, engineering and transport communications.
