New higher education institution in Turkmenistan: Oguz Khan University of Engineering Technologies

As is known, the project on establishment of the institute that will allow developing such scientific areas as nano-, bio- and information technology, electronics, robotic engineering, genetics, molecular biology, innovative economy among others was developed based on the practices of the leading universities in Japan. This initiative was an important step towards implementation of a number of state programmes aimed at developing the scientific sphere and, first of all, the Programme on development of innovative activity for 2015-2020 as well as professional development of scientists in Turkmenistan.

Since the first day of the enrollment campaign, school graduates have applied their document to the new university. To become a student of a fundamentally new science-intensive university is a dream of each representative of the young generation of the Turkmen people keeping up with the times.

As is known, development of the system of education is completely predetermined by the changing needs of society and the achievements of scientific and technological progress. Education is also a subject to the qualitative growth in accordance with the development and introduction of high technologies.

Currently, the level of technological development determines the welfare of countries. The network of world-class universities is formed in the context of a significant acceleration of the scientific and technological progress. They are not just educational institutions, but also the centres for research and expert activity, which are able to create and convey the best ideas to the world community, spread knowledge and share experience.

The high school in our country makes confident steps in this direction, establishing an attractive competitive educational environment. Within recent years, the network of local universities, aimed at training highly qualified specialists based on the global education standards has significantly expanded. International cooperation with the leading scientific and educational centres in the world, including on the basis of special agreements on mutually beneficial cooperation contributes to this.

Concern for a person is prioritized by the state policy in Turkmenistan, which has huge potential for development. At the same time, one of the most important tasks is to educate harmoniously developed highly intelligent young generation.

Construction of ultra-modern educational complexes and institutions supplied with the most innovative multimedia equipment has been launched in the country. Oguz Khan University of Engineering Technologies, which has launched the first enrollment campaign for the 2016-2017 academic year, is a worthy embodiment of this strategy. The Bachelor’s programme includes a number of innovative areas, including chemistry and biotechnology; metallurgy, machine building and metal processing; nanotechnologies and nanomaterials; natural sciences; computer science and engineering; automation and management; electronics, radio and communication systems.

Upon completion of the one-year pre-academic language programme, students are admitted to the bachelor-level programme in the university on a fee-paying basis. The educational programme is in English and Japanese languages.

Speaking about the further development of international cooperation between Japan and Turkmenistan in the science and educational sphere, the administration of Oguz Khan University of Engineering Technologies noted that the agreements on partnership, including with the well-known in our country University of Tsukuba were drafted.

It is planned to send the most talented undergraduate students to this and other prestigious universities of Japan. Graduate students will be awarded with special certificates of the Japanese high school and diplomas of Oguz Khan University of Engineering Technologies.

This year, the enrolment campaign will last till July 30 and the entrance exams will start on August 2.

Oguz Khan University of Engineering Technologies is located in the ultramodern high school campus, which will open the doors on the eve of the 2016-2017 academic year. The structure of the new high school includes five departments: Chemistry and Nanotechnology; Biotechnology and Ecology; Computer Science and Information Technology; Equipment and Electronics; Innovative economy, as well as the Research Centre, the Language Centre and the university library with a large fund of educational, scientific, methodical literature, auxiliary aids and monographs.

The ultramodern high school complex will house multipurpose sports and health improving center.
