Tourism potential of Turkmenistan is presented in Beijing

Ambassador of Turkmenistan to the PRC Parahat Durdyev and Trade Representative Sh. Batyrov took part in the World Conference on Tourism Cooperation and Development, which took place in frames of the 2020 China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS-2020).

Within the framework of CIFTIS-2020, the first major fair of the current year, held on September 4-9 in regular and online modes, various events were organized with the participation of 18,000 Chinese and foreign enterprises and institutions and more than 100,000 people. The exposition that consists of eight thematic sectors is arranged on 200,000-square meter area.

The Global Summit on Trade in Services was held On September 4. It was attended by prominent politicians, representatives of international organizations and 500 largest companies in the world, as well as leading experts. Chinese President Xi Jinping addressed the participants via video link.

A number of meetings were organized within the framework of the conference to discuss trends in the development of trade in services, aspects of the digital economy, investment policy and cooperation in the field of tourism. In connection with the COVID-19 pandemic, conference participants exchanged views on facilitating the transition of trade to online platforms.

The World Conference on Tourism Cooperation and Development was attended by representatives of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), SCO and WTCF, the mayor and vice-mayor of Beijing, diplomats of Turkmenistan, Colombia, Georgia, CEOs of various companies.

The Ambassador of Turkmenistan spoke at the final session of the forum dedicated to investment in the tourism industry and its diversification, and also became a guest of honour of the contract signing ceremony.

The head of the diplomatic mission of Turkmenistan focused on the large-scale reforms initiated by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and, in particular, on the measures taken to implement the tourism potential of our country, on the territory of which unique monuments of historical and cultural heritage and natural attractions are located.

Underlining that in accordance with the Resolution of the UN General Assembly adopted at the initiative of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, 2021 was declared as the International Year of Peace and Trust, the Ambassador highlighted the constructive and balanced proposals of our country to address the important issues on the global agenda, as well as the 25th anniversary of neutrality. It was emphasized that the Turkmen model of neutrality had become a phenomenon in international relations and a significant factor in stability in the region.

The Ambassador of Turkmenistan had a meeting with WTCF Secretary-General, Chen Dong to discuss the prospects for cooperation and the possibility for the other cities in our country to join the organization. Parahat Durdyev presented the book by the President of Turkmenistan "Horse - a Symbol of Fidelity and Happiness" in the Chinese language to Mr. Chen Dong.
