REPRESENTATIVES OF TURKMENISTAN AND THE EAST COMMITTEE OF THE GERMAN ECONOMY DISCUSSED PRIORITIES OF BILATERAL COOPERATION

On May 26, 2020, a video conference was held between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the leadership of the Eastern Committee of the German Economy.

During a constructive conversation, the parties discussed the current state and prospects for the development of mutually beneficial cooperation. In particular, during the discussions, the Chairman of the Board of the East Committee of the German Economy Oliver Hermes spoke on the topic: “General assessment of the German economy, bilateral cooperation with Turkmenistan, and the world situation in connection with the pandemic”, where the key areas of our country's interaction and possible impact were identified objective situations associated with a pandemic of a new type of virus for the implementation of earlier reached agreements.

Also during the meeting, a discussion of the UMAX Trade project was held, scheduled for the renovation of the water sector in Turkmenistan. In this context, the parties considered the proposals of UMAX Trade and the positions of the relevant ministries and departments of Turkmenistan in view of the implementation of effective cooperation in the field of transforming the water sector of our country, the widespread introduction of modern technologies in the production.

The parties also agreed to comprehensively intensify bilateral cooperation and, in this context, it was proposed that the 7th Days of the Federal Republic of Germany would be held in Turkmenistan in 2021, as well as the intensification of negotiations in the form of video conferencing between German companies and Turkmen partners.
