CENTRAL ASIAN REGIONAL CONFERENCE ON BIRTH REGISTRATION AND PREVENTION OF STATELESSNESS WAS HELD IN NUR-SULTAN CITY

The second Regional Conference on the Right to Legal Identity and Prevention of Statelessness named “Leaving No One Behind at Birth” was held on September 5-6, 2019 in the city of Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan.

The Conference was organized by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) jointly with the Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Republic of Kazakhstan, in close coordination with the UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and UN Economic and Social Commission of Asia and Pacific (ESCAP).

The high-ranking representatives of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan as well as the civil society organizations having practical experience in the area of preventing the statelessness participated to the Conference.
