Meeting of the Halk Maslahaty (People’s Council) of Turkmenistan held in Ashgabat

On September 23, 2026, the successive meeting of the Halk Maslahaty (People’s Council) of Turkmenistan took place at the “Maslahat Köşgi” Palace in Ashgabat and was chaired by the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

The members of the Government, deputies of the Mejlis, heads of ministries and agencies, political parties, public organizations, and mass media, governors of provinces (velayats), districts (etraps), and cities, members of the provincial, district, and city People’s Councils, honorary elders, representatives of the public and others participated in the session.

Addressing the audience, Hero Arkadag warmly congratulated the participants and fellow citizens on the 35th anniversary of the Homeland’s Independence, wishing everyone good health, a prosperous and happy life, peace, and well-being.

In this year, entitled “Independent, Neutral Turkmenistan – Homeland of Purposeful Heavenly Horses”, with special pride that we mark the country’s main holiday – the glorious 35th anniversary of our great independence , Hero-Arkadag noted, emphasizing the immense work accomplished during the years of sovereignty. Turkmenistan has emerged as one of the world’s reputable and powerful states.

It was highlighted that the years of independence have been filled with significant political, economic, and cultural events of historic importance; these events clearly demonstrate our Motherland’s steady progress, the consistent growth of its international standing, and the global community’s full support for the foreign and domestic policies it pursues.

Turkmenistan is successfully fulfilling tasks aimed at the consistent implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals of the UN 2030 Agenda. Our country was among the first nations to embed the key global SDG targets and indicators into its national development strategies and programs.

The floor was then given to participants of the Halk Maslahaty meeting to address the items on the agenda.

The National Leader of the Turkmen people noted that important aspects of the country’s state and socio-political life had been considered during the meeting.

The national meeting then continued with the participation of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

The National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty invited the Head of State to speak.

In his address, the Head of State spoke about the work aimed at Turkmenistan’s socio-economic development and further improvement of the well-being citizens', while also outlining priority tasks.

During the Halk Maslahaty meeting, the Head of State signed relevant decrees and resolutions. In particular, these documents approved the “National Strategy for the Industrial Development of Turkmenistan for 2030 – 2045”, the National Concept “International Law and Neutrality of Turkmenistan” and the State Program on State Youth Policy in Turkmenistan for the period up to 2031.
