President of Turkmenistan Receives the Minister of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan

On July 8, 2026, President Serdar Berdimuhamedow received Mikayil Jabbarov, the Minister of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan, who arrived in Turkmenistan for an official visit.

Expressing his appreciation for the warm welcome and hospitality extended to the Azerbaijani delegation, Mikayil Jabbarov noted that Azerbaijan attaches particular importance to the development of relations with Turkmenistan. Taking the opportunity, he conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, to the head of state.

The guest emphasized the importance of regular high-level dialogue in developing interstate relations, stating that the recent state visit of the President of Turkmenistan to Azerbaijan opened a new chapter in bilateral cooperation.

Thanking him for the kind words, President Serdar Berdimuhamedow returned his best wishes to the leader of the friendly nation and expressed confidence that the guest's current visit would make a significant contribution to further strengthening trade and economic ties, while providing a new impetus to the development of a mutually beneficial partnership.

The head of state also wished for the successful holding of the next meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Turkmen-Azerbaijani Commission on Economic Cooperation, noting that it would facilitate the implementation of previously reached agreements and the expansion of bilateral interaction.

Currently, cooperation between the two states is successfully developing across all areas. Political dialogue is being consistently strengthened, trade and economic ties are expanding, and joint large-scale projects are being implemented.

The sides also emphasized the importance of the upcoming Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia and the Republic of Azerbaijan, which will be held in Turkmenistan this year. It was noted that holding this summit during Turkmenistan's presidency of the CIS will be of particular significance.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedow stressed that his recent state visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan was an important milestone in the development of bilateral relations, and the high-level talks held during the visit opened up new opportunities for further strengthening cooperation in various fields.

The interlocutors noted the key role of the Joint Intergovernmental Turkmen-Azerbaijani Commission in realizing economic potential. This commission acts as a coordinating instrument that promotes the diversification of ties in trade, logistics, science and technology, as well as other priority areas.

They also emphasized the importance of effectively utilizing the advantageous geographical location of both countries. This opens up broad opportunities for intensifying cooperation in the energy sector, developing international transport and transit corridors, improving logistics routes, and implementing joint projects of international significance.

The cultural and humanitarian sphere remains another integral component of interstate relations. In this regard, the sides noted the necessity of further expanding ties in science, education, and culture, which serve as a solid foundation for strengthening friendship and mutual understanding between the two nations.

At the conclusion of the meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedow and Mikayil Jabbarov exchanged best wishes. Expressing confidence that traditional, friendly Turkmen-Azerbaijani relations will continue to develop successfully across a wide spectrum of areas, they offered warm regards to each other and to the brotherly peoples of both countries.
