Turkmenistan Delegation Participates in the "Central Asia – China" Senior Officials’ Meeting
On April 27–28, 2026, a meeting of Senior Officials of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the member states of the "Central Asia – China" format was held in Xi'an, PRC. A delegation from Turkmenistan took part in the session.
During the meeting, which opened with welcoming remarks by the Secretary General of the Format’s Secretariat, Sun Weidong, participants held a thorough exchange of views on a wide range of issues regarding multilateral cooperation.
The parties summarized the results of joint work for 2025, analyzing the implementation progress of previously reached agreements and signed documents.
Special attention was paid to the practical implementation of initiatives proposed at the Second "Central Asia – China" Summit in Astana. In particular, the progress on the draft Long-term Strategic Development of the Format for 2026–2030 was reviewed.
The delegations discussed draft concepts for the establishment of an Interregional Investment and Trade Council, a new economic partnership program, a "Green Development" plan leading up to 2030.
Progress was also noted in coordinating the draft for the creation of a unified digital portal, "Cultural Heritage of the Silk Road," designed to strengthen cultural and civilizational ties in the region. Additionally, the draft of a unified emblem for the "Central Asia – China" format was considered.
As part of the preparations for upcoming high-level and summit-level events, issues regarding the organization of the 7th Foreign Ministers' Meeting were reviewed. The parties discussed the schedule of ministerial meetings and other joint activities for 2026, which has been declared the Year of High-Quality Development of Cooperation.
Turkmenistan, remaining committed to the principles of equal and mutually beneficial partnership, confirmed its readiness for further active engagement within the Format to ensure sustainable development, peace, and security in the region.
