President of Turkmenistan received the delegation of the Islamic Republic of Iran
On December 7, 2024, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov received Minister of Energy of the Islamic Republic of Iran Abbas Aliabadi and Governor of the Central Bank of Iran Mohammad Reza Farzi.
Expressing gratitude for the time allocated for the meeting, the guests noted that Iran attaches great importance to cooperation with Turkmenistan, which is confidently moving forward on the path of progress and transformation, and conveyed warm words of greetings from President Masoud Pezeshkian to the head of state and the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Hero-Arkadag, as well as wishes of prosperity to the Turkmen people.
Thanking for kind words, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov addressed his best wishes to the head of the friendly country and expressed confidence in the effectiveness of the current visit of the Iranian delegation, which would contribute to further development of mutually beneficial cooperation and its enrichment with new content.
As it was noted, fraternal and good-neighborly relations between Turkmenistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran date back to ancient times and are traditionally developing on the basis of mutual respect and understanding both in the bilateral format and within the framework of international organizations.
A multi-vector fruitful partnership between the two countries has been established in political-diplomatic, financial-economic, energy, agricultural, transport, cultural and humanitarian spheres.
Trade and economic cooperation is one of the priority areas of bilateral relations. Iran occupies an important place in the foreign trade turnover of Turkmenistan.
Noting that there are all possibilities for further expansion of the dialog in the oil and gas sphere, the head of state expressed confidence that regular exchange of views on the search for new forms and methods of collaboration in this area and their practical implementation will be useful.
It is well known that Turkmenistan is in favor of diversification of energy supplies to the world markets. Currently, Turkmenistan is working with its partners on the implementation of several significant energy projects.
Emphasizing that these steps are being taken with consideration of environmental safety, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov reaffirmed Turkmenistan’s readiness to support initiatives and proposals aimed at expanding and strengthening bilateral relations.
At the end of the meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and members of the delegation of the Islamic Republic of Iran exchanged best wishes and expressed confidence in further successful development of interstate cooperation based on the principles of friendship and mutual benefit for the sake of the peoples of both countries.
